What can you use to hold up an outdoor sagging clothes line, when it has a bunch of clothes on it?

People used to use a 6 or 7 foot tall metal rod that had two metal loops on the end. This was moveable, and the clothesline fit between the loops and you could push the line up this way. I don't know where to get something like that.


I don't know what it's called. That's why I'm asking for alternative ideas. The line droops down the most in the middle, naturally. Don't want sheets to get dirty from the ground!

Reply:go to the lumber yard.....get a 2x2 the right length to hold the line up.....cut a V-shaped notch in the end
Reply:Called a clothes line pole. Can still get them but harder to find these days. Call an older hardware store preferably a family owned store. or use an 8ft 1"x2" board with a notch cut in the end. probable cost =$2.00 at the home improvement store. The real dimensions of a 1 x 2" is 5/8 or 3/4 x 1 5/8.


another thing that works well is a bamboo pole with a hook set in one end. You can still get them at a carpet store (they come with a new roll of carpet. )

Reply:Sears sells a plastic apparatus the has a pulley on the bottom, and a pulley on the top. It clamps onto the top line and the bottom. This allows it to travel with the line. I have hung clothes for 50 years, and would never be without one, or two. I really don't know what they're called, but I would never be without them. If you don't have a pulley system to send the clothes out, you just hook this into the proper place.
