OMG. My computer will not load up. It's a recurring loop where it tries to load, but tells me that it wasn't turned off properly or something like that. I have tons of files on it that I'd love to save to a CD or even e-mail to myself. Is there any way to extract all that stuff?
Here's what it says:
We apologize for the inconvenience. Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files or folders, choose the Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If a previous start up attempt was interrupted due to a power failure, or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
It doesn't matter which option I select; the same result occurs. It loops after trying and failing to load. PLEASE HELP!
My computer is looping when I turn it on and will not start up. What should I do?
Try to start the computer in safe mode
1.You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2.
2.Click Start, click Shut Down, and then, in the drop-down list, click Shut down.
3.In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
4.When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
5.Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER. (choose Last Known Good Configuration, which starts your computer using the registry information that was saved at the last shutdown. )
6.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Reply:did you install anything new on the computer, if you did undo it? but anyway when it starts up, select safe mode. that way you can do a system restore and set your computer back a few days ago or something when it last worked for you. it will undo what ever happened to it
Reply:try putting in your Windows CD, booting from the CD (usually press F8, it will prompt you with the correct button) and repair the windows installation, this will do nothing to your files, and should make your computer boot correctly
Reply:i had this problem before, i even could not get in under Safe mode
i have to reinstall OS
Reply:Assuming you tried the option "Safe mode" and failed, you have some kind of hardware problem. Take it to a local repair shop for estimate. Without seeing it, I would guess a $75 charge.
