How do I eliminate ground loop noise in my car?

When I plug my mp3 player into my car stereo, I hear a high pitched humming when music isn't being played. How do I eliminate this sound?

Reply:Does it vary with the engine speed? In other words, does it get higher pitched the faster you go? If so, there are devices that can be wired in to reduce/eliminate this but you should probably talk with a car audio installer in your area.
