Does the filling loop on a Worcester Junior 28i combi boiler need to be removed after filling the system?

I have successfully filled this boiler to the correct pressure for the Worcester Junior 28i using the filling loop, offered as an accessory by Worcester and purchased separately, and all is working well. My question is should this filling loop be left permanently in position during operation of the boiler or should it be removed and the original brass blanking plugs re-fitted?

It 'should' be disconnected as per the water regs to remove the possibility of the heating water contaminating the mains supply if the double check valves fail. The same applies to the key filling loops on most worcesters. If you are happy to run the negligable risk then leave it on.
Reply:NO! leave it in place its designed to pressurise the system in case of leaks or draining the radiators.

the pressure on the pipes is nothing compared to the expansion and contraction caused by heating/cooling.

plus if you remove it and bleed the radiators and lose it then you will not have a working heating until you find it..

You should bleed radiators every year so it makes sense to keep it in place.
Reply:Simon b is of course right. You SHOULD remove it..... but no one ever does!

On the mains side of the loop there is a stop valve and on the heating side there is a double check valve. Many things have to go wrong for there to be a problem.

Someone said you needed to bleed your radiators once a year - not so. If the system is well designed and has no leaks, you shouldn't get any air in the system. If you ARE constantly getting air and having to top up the system, your radiators could fail prematurely. Make sure you have a corrosion inhibitor added to the heating system water.
Reply:remove , as if it lies in arc you are putting pressure on the side walls of the flexi fitting ( assuming it is a flex ) mine is , it also reminds you to turn the water off on the mains water side , and a safe place for brass plugs is on the threads , not putting them in a safe place at the back of a drawer .
Reply:leave it on on my baxi it is perminent fixture the tap before the flex turns it off the presure on the flex is not as high as mains

even the Baxi engineer did not remove it on the yearly service so it would seem it should be connected
Reply:take notice of simon b hes right
